Camille Suárez has accepted a tenure-track position at Valparaiso University. Starting in August she will join their faculty as an assistant professor of 19th-Century US History. Camille’s dissertation is entitled “How the West was Won: Race, Citizenship, and the Colonial Roots of California, 1849 – 1879.” Her committee consists of Mary Frances Berry (chair), Eiichiro Azuma, Stephanie McCurry (Columbia U.), and Andrés Reséndez (U.C. Davis).
