Jooyeon Hahm, who is scheduled to defend her dissertation in June, was awarded postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard's Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies and Yale’s Council on East Asian Studies. She has accepted Yale’s two-year position as postdoctoral associate on transnational Asia, where she will, among other things, transform her dissertation into a book. The dissertation is entitled: “Family Matters: Concubines and Illegitimate Children in the Japanese Empire, 1868-1945"; her committee consists of Fred Dickinson (Chair), Siyen Fei, Ayako Kano (EALC), Ramya Sreenivasan (SAST), and Sungyun Lim (University of Colorado, Boulder).
