Makiki is pursuing a dissertation titled Bodies of Empire: the Political, Religious, and Corporeal Makings of English Subjecthood in Seventeenth-Century New England. Read about it here at her Departmental Webpage!
To research her dissertation project, Makiki has recently been awarded:
- The E. Geoffrey and Elizabeth Thayer Verney Fellowship at the Nantucket Historical Association, which she will use to conduct research for her dissertation.
- The Marvin and Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection Fellowship, a joint fellowship between the libraries at Florida Atlantic University and the Huntington Library. The fellowship funds a month of study at each.
