Tina A. Irvine receives two dissertation honors

Tina A. Irvine (Ph.D., 2019), received two honors for her dissertation, "Reclaiming Appalachia: Mountain Reform and the Preservation of White Citizenship, 1890–1929." She won the Melvin E. Bradford Prize from St. George Tucker Society for best dissertation in southern history; and she was a finalist for the C. Vann Woodward dissertation prize from the Southern Historical Association. Dr. Irvine is now Visiting Assistant Professor of History, Indiana University, and Assistant Editor of the Journal of American History. Her dissertation committee was Kathy Peiss (chair), Kathleen Brown, and Thomas Sugrue.
