Being an Arab Imperialist in Late 19th century Istanbul with Mostafa Minawi, Associate Professor of History and the Director of Critical Ottoman & Post-Ottoman Studies at Cornell University

This talk is based on Minawi’s book Losing Istanbul: Arab-Ottoman Imperialists and the End of Empire. In his talk, Minawi will focus on the day-to-day life of a handful of Arab Ottoman officials as they experienced the turbulence of the late Ottoman Empire and the rise of racial differentiation and ethnonationalism in the Middle East.
