History Undergraduate Advisory Board Student-Faculty Pizza Lunch Discussion
DATE: Wednesday, November 11, 2015
TIME: 12:00pm-12:45pm
LOCATION: College Hall 209
The History Undergraduate Advisory Board (HUAB) would like to invite you to our first Student-Faculty Pizza Lunch Discussion on Wednesday, November 11th from 12-12:45 PM in College Hall Room 209.
This time, we welcome one of Penn History's newest faculty members, Professor Alex Chase-Levenson!
Come hear Professor Chase-Levenson discuss his research on the pan-European quarantine system in the nineteenth century, a system that detained every person or good traveling from the Middle East to Western Europe. In particular, Professor Chase-Levenson will discuss how the administration of quarantine connected Great Britain to Continental Europe and how epidemics and rituals in the Mediterranean shaped the development of public health policy in Great Britain.
In the Spring, Professor Chase-Levenson will teach:
HIST 206 - Travel, Trade, and War in the Modern Mediterranean
HIST 051 - Modern Britain, 1700-2015: Empire, Industry, and Democracy
We hope to see you on Wednesday, November 11th for pizza and good conversation! If you plan to attend, please RSVP.
