Presentation of preliminary research findings

Please join us for a public presentation of preliminary research findings by five Penn undergraduates who have been examining the University of Pennsylvania’s implication in slavery and the slave trade.  In September 2017, this group of undergraduate researchers began investigating the engagement of Penn’s early trustees in Atlantic commerce connected to the slave trade as well as their direct ownership of enslaved people. Three months of research has yielded surprising findings of trustee dependence on slave produced wealth as well as the transmission of that wealth and status across generations.
