Ph.D. Student

Julian Tash is a second year PhD student interested in the interaction between the Japanese empire and communities of overseas Taiwanese and overseas Chinese during the twentieth century. He is particularly interested in questions of identity, modernity, and empire.

For the AY 2023-2024 Julian is serving as the co-president for Clio, the History Department's graduate student organization.

Prior to studying at Penn, Julian was a Fulbright Scholar in the Asia-Pacific M.A. program at National Chengchi University in Taiwan.
